Due to my extensive experience speaking with the press, as well as being involved in education and training related to psychiatry, I am well-positioned to provide consultation, serve as a trusted expert witness, and educate attorneys and the court regarding mental health and mental illness.

 

My primary area of expertise is in legal cases involving suicide or danger to self. Detailed information on my areas of expertise are provided on my research page.

 

I have over 15 years of experience in the field of psychiatry and am a Board-Certified Psychiatrist. I earned my BA from Stanford University and MD from University of California San Francisco (UCSF). I also completed my residency in adult psychiatry at UCSF. Currently, I am a Professor of Psychiatry at Oregon Health & Science University.
